BY SUNDAY EGEDE

WOMEN of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta Central Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, as the sole candidates of the party for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement, one of the series of endorsements the president and the governor have received in recent time, took place during a strategic APC women’s unity meeting held at the Kingdom Hall, Ughelli.

The motion for the endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori was moved by Mrs. Josephine Oduaran and seconded by Hon. Stella Okotete. It was unanimously adopted through a voice vote presided over by former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Evelyn Oboro.

Convener of the meeting and Executive Director, Business Development, NEXIM Bank, Hon. Stella Okotete, said the women of Delta Central have resolved to follow President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori without looking back.

She described the gathering as a significant step towards consolidating women’ s participation in the APC and ensuring electoral victory in 2027.

According to her, the party stands united under the leadership of Governor Oborevwori, and assured that more empowerment opportunities await women in the state.

She noted that the massive turnout of female political leaders from across the senatorial district was a clear indication of the growing strength of the APC.

Okotete, a former APC National Women Leader, urged the women to mobilize voters from house to house, unit to unit, ward to ward, and local government to local government to ensure landslide victories for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, and all APC candidates.

She clarified that she has no intention of contesting any elective office in 2027, stating that her sole interest lies in delivering victory for the party’s candidates.

She also emphasized the importance of embracing the APC’s twinning system, where women can deputize for men and vice versa, to guarantee broader representation at all levels.

Okotete said: “Our goal is to ensure the re-election of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori so they can continue their good work beyond 2027. Delta State is now an APC state, and we are confident of victory. The President will get the highest number of votes from Delta State in 2027. There is no opposition here, and certainly no division within the APC. We are united”.

Speaking on behalf of the Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency delegates, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Evelyn Oboro, applauded Governor Oborevwori for his outstanding achievements in just two years in office.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Delta State Civil Service Commission, Chief Roseline Amioku, urged women to register their children, particularly those of voting age to boost the senatorial district’s population. She noted that women constitute the majority of voters at polling units and called for unity to advance their collective political fortunes.

State Women Leader of the APC, Mrs. Tina Okwudili, expressed confidence in the strength of the party, citing the massive defection of former PDP members to the APC. She pledged continued hard work to ensure victory for all APC candidates in future elections.

The State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, was also in attendance, alongside pioneer State Women Leader, Mrs. Janet Oyubu; Evangelist Ann Agoda; Mrs. Josephine Oduaran; and Mrs. Regina Edeki. They also addressed the gathering and urged the women to remain committed and work diligently for the success of the party.

Earlier, the APC Women Leader in Delta Central, Mrs. Loveth Onojoserio, welcomed the women and described the meeting as a unity gathering to strengthen the bond among women in the party and prepare for future electoral contests.

Endoresements Show Deltans Value Performance – Aniagwu

Meanwhile Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has said that the increasing wave of endorsements for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori clearly shows that Deltans appreciate effective leadership and the developmental strides witnessed across the state.

Speaking on “This Week” on Arise News, Aniagwu highlighted that the Oborevwori administration has remained faithful to its MORE agenda—comprising Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security, since assuming office.

According to Aniagwu, the Governor’s commitment to delivering across these four pillars has ensured that no part of the state is left behind.

“He was very clear that development must reach all senatorial districts and local governments. That includes not only physical infrastructure but reforms that improve the quality of life for all residents,” he said.

The commissioner stressed the importance of peace and security in achieving the Governor’s vision, noting that Oborevwori prioritized ensuring safety across Delta’s 25 local government areas.

“In an atmosphere of chaos, even the best ideas fail. The Governor knew he needed to build peace to actualize his vision,” he added.

Aniagwu further explained that the endorsements for both the Governor and the President are a reflection of public satisfaction with their synergy, especially now that they share the same political platform.

He cited several federal infrastructure projects ongoing in the state, including the 17.5km access road to the Second Niger Bridge, the Benin–Asaba corridor, and upgrades to the Sapele– Amukpe–Abraka–Agbor highway.

“People can see that the President and the Governor are working in tandem. That alignment is paying off. Our people are simply saying, let’s sustain this momentum,” Aniagwu noted.

He also praised Governor Oborevwori’s efforts to reduce travel time between major cities in the state, especially the Asaba–Warri route, which now takes under two hours—down from nearly three.

“The Governor has not only connected communities through road infrastructure, but also made significant investments in healthcare and other critical sectors,” he said.

Aniagwu emphasized that the growing support is not swaying the Governor’s focus, saying “Oborevwori is not carried away by endorsements. He remains committed to delivering more developmental footprints, and we are proud to be led by someone who understands our people’s needs.”

He further said Delta State is poised to reap significant benefits from Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s recent participation in the International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) in China.

The Commissioner described the Governor’s trip as a strategic move to position Delta State for international infrastructure partnerships and knowledge exchange.

He explained that the forum gave the Governor and his team valuable insight into international best practices in infrastructure planning, execution, and project management.

“When you engage at that global level, you’re able to measure the standards you apply at home against internationally recognized benchmarks,” he said.

According to him, the trip was not just ceremonial. The Governor and his delegation used the opportunity to establish contacts with top construction giants and policy implementers.

“We didn’t just attend; we interacted. We assessed the capacity of global players and explored the possibility of bringing some of them into our state,” he said.

He added that the exposure has already begun to influence project planning and implementation strategies back home.

“The knowledge we acquired is helping us strengthen our existing programmes and initiatives. From policy alignment to execution, we are now thinking and operating with global standards in mind.”

Aniagwu reaffirmed that Governor Oborevwori is determined to ensure Deltans get full value for every naira spent on infrastructure projects.

“His commitment is not just to build, but to build right, efficiently, and sustainably,” Aniagwu said.
