Any political party planning to capitalise on poverty as a weapon of winning elections would be highly disappointed when the time comes.
This was contained in a statement by the Delta State Chapter of African Democratic Congress (ADC) shortly after an extra-ordinary meeting of key stakeholders at the party’s Secretariat in Asaba.
Addressing newsmen, a member of the ADC Transition Committee in Delta State, Hon. Lawrence Emeka Ozegbe assured Deltans the era of moneybag politics to manipulate voters would be vigorously resisted as they are battle ready to checkmate such ugly trend.
He lamented that despite the quantum of Federal Allocations and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) accrued to the State, underdevelopment and poverty were still very visible in the State.
“ADC is determined to deliver good and responsive governance”, he added.
Also speaking another member of the Transition Committee, Anthony Ominogho said the chances of the party winning the 2027 governorship polls were very bright, Ominogho said that as from 19th December, 2025, aggressive registration of new members will start while calling on Deltans to join the moving train of ADC members to take them to the land of development and prosperity.
On the issue of zoning and power rotation, he made it clear that the party was more concerned with which candidate that has a pedigree of winning and providing effective leadership at the end of the day.
The Stakeholders meeting was graced by Barrister George Timinimi, Mr Johnson Urhukpe and Ambassador Richard Aduvie among several others drawn from the three senatorial districts of the State.
