A yet-to-be-identified housewife from Isoko ethnic nationality has been arrested for allegedly killing her husband and another woman in the Ighwre-Ovie area of Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The suspect is currently in custody at the Ughelli Area Command of the Delta State Police. According to reports, the incident occurred following prolonged marital disputes linked to the husband’s alleged extramarital affairs.
A community source told newsmen that the woman, a mother of two, had repeatedly accused her husband of infidelity. On the day of the incident, the husband reportedly returned home intoxicated, after which a violent confrontation ensued, leading to his death.
The source further disclosed that during the incident, a female neighbour who attempted to intervene was also attacked and sustained serious injuries. She is presently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
It was also alleged that the suspect later went to the residence of the woman believed to be her husband’s lover, within the same community, where she allegedly attacked and killed her. Another resident reportedly escaped unharmed after raising an alarm, which attracted community members and led to the arrest of the suspect.
As of the time of filing this report, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, has not issued an official statement on the incident.
