UNIDEL Governing Council Ratifies Ijeh’s Appointment As DVC

THE Governing Council of the University of Delta, Agbor (UNIDEL), yesterday, ratified the election of Prof. Patrick Nkemdilim Ijeh as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, following an emergency session held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Council Chambers.

Prof. Ijeh, until his elevation, served as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. He succeeds Prof. Patricia Mbah, whose tenure as Deputy Vice-Chancellor expired a few weeks ago.

A distinguished scholar and administrator, Prof. Ijeh has steadily risen through the academic ranks at UNIDEL and is widely regarded as a key contributor to the University’s academic growth and governance framework.

Before his election to the university’s top management team, he was elected by his peers as Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences after a competitive process, a development that underscored his credibility, leadership capacity and the confidence reposed in him by colleagues.

Prof. Ijeh is a seasoned academic in the Department of Mass Communication, where he has been actively involved in curriculum development, research mentorship and the intellectual advancement of students and staff.
