The Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Nyerhovwo Tonukari has charged newly admitted students of the Nation Builders College of Technology (Polytechnic), Asaba to uphold discipline, integrity, and academic commitment as they commence their higher education journey.
Prof Tonukari gave the advice during the 2024/2025 matriculation ceremony of the institution, held at its campus in Asaba.
Delivering his goodwill message, he congratulated the college management, led by the Rector, Dr Chukwuma Anuku for successfully organising what he described as a well-coordinated and impactful event.
“I am truly delighted to be part of this important academic milestone. I commend the leadership of the college for their hard work and dedication, which has culminated in the successful ceremony,” the Commissioner said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for creating a peaceful and enabling environment that continues to foster learning and innovation across the state’s higher institutions.
Addressing the matriculating students, the Higher Education Commissioner congratulated them on securing admission and urged them to take their academic pursuits seriously.
He cautioned against social vices, including drug abuse and cultism, warning that such behaviours could derail their academic and personal development.
“You are the future leaders of our nation, and the choices you make today will shape your tomorrow. Stay focused, be disciplined, and uphold values that will make you proud ambassadors of this institution and our state,” he advised.
Also in attendance at the event were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Higher Education, Mrs Bridget Odobor; the Director of Higher Education; and other top officials, who lent their support and interacted with students and staff.
The matriculation ceremony marked the formal admission of the 2024/2025 set of students into the college, signifying a significant step forward in their academic journey.
