Tinubu Appoints New Heads For National Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has approved a new wave of appointments across several critical government agencies, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening institutional leadership and driving reforms in strategic sectors.

The appointments, which span agriculture, education, labour, social welfare, and national development, bring a mix of technocrats, academics, administrators, and experienced public servants into leadership roles.

Yazid Shehu Umar Danfulani from Zamfara State has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), with Abubakar Umar Jarengol from Adamawa State named Executive Director of operations of the same institution. In the domain of enterprise and grassroots economic empowerment, Hamza Baba from Kano has been appointed Programme Manager of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).

Labour and social welfare agencies are also receiving new leadership. Barr. Sama’ila Audu from Katsina State has been appointed Executive Director, Administration of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), while labour activist Comrade Isa Aremu from Kwara State will now serve as Director-General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS).

In the field of education, Prof. Musa Garba Tafsiri from Kebbi State has been named Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.

Meanwhile, Prof. Garba Hamidu Sharubutu of Benue State retains his position as Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria, continuing his leadership in agricultural innovation and research.

Key appointments also include Abdullahi Mohammed of Katsina State as Executive Director (Finance and Administration) of the Nigeria–São Tomé and Príncipe Joint Development Authority, responsible for managing cross-border oil resources.

Political heavyweights also made the list. Former Katsina State Governor, Shehu Shema, has been named Chairman of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), a critical body overseeing infrastructure and planning in Abuja. Also from Katsina, Sen Engr. Kabir Abdullahi Barkiya has been appointed Chairman of the Nigerian Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).

Sen Tijjani Kaura from Zamfara State rounds out the list as the new Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, a federal institution focused on civic education and leadership development.

The appointments reflect the Tinubu administration’s drive to reposition federal institutions for effective service delivery and align leadership with its “Renewed Hope” agenda.
