- As Police Arrest 13 Suspects

A senior officer of the Nigerian Navy, M. Buba, a lieutenant commander, was stabbed to death by a suspected phone snatcher in Kaduna state.
Buba was reportedly attacked and stabbed on the chest with a knife at a bus stop before Kawo flyover in Kaduna around 4 am on Sunday
Sources told journalists that the unfortunate incident occurred near the Kawo flyover bridge while the officer, who is a student of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, was attempting to fix a flat tyre on his vehicle.
Eyewitnesses said that the assailant emerged from a nearby spot and demanded the officer’s mobile phone. When the officer resisted, the assailant reportedly stabbed him in the chest with a sharp object suspected to be a local knife.
A local vigilante, Suleiman Dahiru, who attempted to assist the officer, was also stabbed in the hand during the altercation.
The naval officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. His remains have since been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna, for further action.
Security sources said that covert operations have been launched by troops, police, and other civil security agencies to identify and remove criminal elements loitering around strategic locations, including bus stops and other black spots in Kaduna metropolis.
In a recent development, at least 13 suspects have been arrested by the Kaduna State Police Command in connection with the murder.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed these arrests.
“In response to the incident, operatives carried a raid in the Kawo area and arrested 13 suspects,” DSP Hassan stated.
The police said investigations are ongoing to determine the involvement of the suspects in the killing.
He said the suspects were picked up during a raid carried out by operatives shortly after the killing of Lt. Commodore M. Buba.
