Men of the Oyo state police command have arrested a suspect in connection with a reported case of rape involving a minor.
A statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Alanyande Olayinka, said on December 25, the Alakia Adelubi Division received a report of sexual assault on a 17-year-old female.
Olayinka said preliminary investigations revealed that the male suspect, Daniel Ajibola ‘M’, aged 22, allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor after administering an intoxicating drink to her.
‘’The suspect has confessed to the crime. The victim was promptly taken to a hospital for medical examination, while the scene of the incident was visited, and the suspect was arrested and taken into custody. In line with the seriousness of the offence, the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.
He further warned that the Command will not tolerate any violent acts against women or offences targeted at women or any member of the society, and directed that the suspect be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.’’ Olayinka said
