Onyeme Commends LG Chairman For Projects

DELTA State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, has commended the Chairman of Ika North East LGA, Hon. Monday Odigwe, for his collaboration with Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in driving development at the grassroots.

Sir Onyeme gave the commendation while commissioning the Ebu-Owa Ultra-Modern Motor Park and Upper Efeizomor/Hero Street in Boji-Boji Owa.

The Deputy Governor noted that the ultra-modern motor park would help to boost the security of lives and goods for commuters as well as drivers, emphasising that every motor park has an entry and exit point, which enhances safety.

He pointed out that the toilet facility constructed within the motor park would also help to curb the issue of open defecation in the area, thereby enabling the people to live in a clean and healthy environment.

Speaking in his address, the Ika North East Local Government Chairman, Hon. Monday Odigwe, noted that the project was part of his campaign promises to residents to help improve their standard of living.

According to Odigwe, the projects would also assist in boosting economic activities within the council area.

Odigwe, who assured that the administration remained committed to adequate service delivery, said his tenure as local government boss would continue to place priority in the interests of residents through more project executions and commissioning.

He used the opportunity to appreciate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his support. This support, he said, has made the administrative process within the local government council easier.

He also used the medium to call on residents to continue to support the administration of the Delta State Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to gain greater dividends of democracy through the MORE  Agenda of the state government and the “Renewed Hope” agenda of the Federal Government.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ika North East Branch A, Mr. Uche Ayetin, who spoke on behalf of the branch and the State Chairman of the Union, Chief Patrick Okpandu, commended Hon. Odigwe for the construction and commissioning of the ultra-modern motor park, describing it as a game-changer for transportation and economic development.

“The motor park is not just a structure; it is a lifeline that connects people and opportunities. It is fully equipped with modern amenities, including restrooms, a secured perimeter, administrative offices, and designated loading bays. This shows the Chairman’s understanding of the needs of the transport sector and his willingness to act on them,” he said.

Echoing similar sentiments during the project commissioning, the Chairman of the Landlord Association of Upper Efeizomor/Hero Road, Elder Godwin Igborgbor, expressed his gratitude to the Council Chairman for the newly constructed road.

“We thank Hon. Odigwe for listening to our cries. This road has changed the face of our community. And as we say, appreciation is an application for more, we still look forward to more developmental strides,” he said.
