Onojaeme Partners NMA On Free Medical Outreach To Rural Areas

As part of his personal efforts to complement and advance the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the health sector, the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme has sponsored a free medical outreach organized by the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Delta State Branch of which over 500 persons benefitted.

The medical outreach, which was held in Government Hospital, Owhelogbo, and the Primary Health Centre, Ovrode, Isoko North Local Government Area, respectively, was organized by the Association as part of measures to honour the legacy of the late Dr. Stella Adadevoh.

The Commissioner assured those who attended the outreach of more benefits as the Governor Oborevwori’s administration was poised to bring more development to the local government area and the State in general.

Speaking to the Press during the event, the Chairman, NMA Delta State Branch, Dr. Isreal Adaigho thanked the Health Commissioner for partnering with the Association through sponsorship of the outreach.

“As our tradition for Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference 2025, we like to give something back to the society as part our corporate social responsibilities and so we are organizing free medical outreach during this year’s conference and the Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Onojaeme has graciously agreed to sponsor the free medical outreach at Ovrode Primary Health Center and General Hospital Owhelogbo.
“The outreach is quite comprehensive and we are doing free surgeries, free drugs, free eyeglasses, free dental therapy section and all drugs prescribed throughout the exercise are all free and sponsored by the Hon Commissioner for Health” he disclosed.

According to the Vice Chairman, NMA Delta State Chapter, and Local Organizing Chairman of the Medical Outreach, Dr. Akponanna Mudiaga, about 121 health practitioners (Medical Doctors: 45; Nurses: 25; Health Assistant: 23; Optometrist : 8; Dental Therapist: 8; Pharmacists: 12) were present for the medical outreach at the two venues.

The beneficiaries took out time to thank the NMA and the Delta State Commissioner for making such an opportunity available for them that provided essential healthcare services, which some of them might not have been able to pay for.

At both centers at Ovrode Primary Health Center and General Hospital, Owhelogbo a total of 500 persons benefitted from the outreach: about 104 persons benefitted from the Chest X-ray service carried out with Portable Digital X-ray Machine.

Also about 23 surgeries (Herniorrhaphy: 14; Herniotomy: 6; Lumpectomy: 3) were carried out.
