THE Ugoani of Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM (Dr.) Michael Mbafefo Ogbolu, yesterday, expressed the gratitude of the entire people of Okpanam, and it’s Ugbolu community to the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for the ground-breaking ceremony of the 11.7km Okpanam-Ugbolu road project, saying “this is long-awaited. It will connect our people and strengthen our economy.”
The Ugoani, who expressed gratitude in his speech during the ground-breaking ceremony performed by the Governor said, “ Your Excellency, I recall that on July 4, 2024, your administration commissioned the Ibusa/Okpanam bypass road, and the 10.6km drainage project, thereby easing transportation and economic/commercial activities between Okpanam and Ibusa. This is besides easing the traffic congestion at the Koka end in Asaba.
For the road projects and more, the monarch said to the Governor “I am particularly grateful to you. The good people of Okpanam are grateful to you. The land of Okpanam is also grateful to you.”
The Ugoani said it was heartwarming that the Governor was again in Okpanam to commission yet another road.
“Your Excellency, let me assure you that, in the manner Okpanam people voted massively for you in the last general elections, the same gesture shall be repeated and more in the 2027 general elections, because the last administration in the state under His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa handed a good product to us in your person”, the Ugoani said.
While saying that the Oborevwori administration is known for action, and less talk, he commended the Governor for his swift response to the cry of Okpanam people to him on the insecurity posed by the nefarious activities of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), along Nzor-Olu section of Okpanam, “Your quick response nipped the activities of IPOB in the bud, we sincerely thank you, Your Excellency.”
Expressing confidence in the Governor’s commitment to the early completion of the Okpanam-Ugbolu road project, the Ugoani also expressed gratitude of Okpanam people for some of their children that he found worthy to serve in his administration, adding “your Excellency, you have, by this, given us a sense of belonging and has made us proud by this gesture. We shall not take it for granted.”
