Oborevwori’s Health Reforms Yield Results As HMB Chairman Applauds Hospital Performance

BY JUMAI NWACHUKWU

THE Chairman of the Delta State Hospital Management Board (HMB), Dr. Paul Oweh, has expressed satisfaction with the improved performance and commitment of health workers across state-owned hospitals, describing it as a direct outcome of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s health sector reforms.

Dr. Oweh stated this during a recent monitoring and evaluation tour of selected General Hospitals across the state, where he assessed the quality of service delivery, staff attitude to work, and general hospital management.

Speaking with journalists after inspecting the facilities, the HMB Chairman commended the dedication of medical and non-medical staff, noting that their improved performance reflects the government’s renewed investment in healthcare infrastructure, equipment, and workforce motivation.

“What we are witnessing today is a clear testimony to the Governor’s commitment to revitalizing the health sector. The hospitals visited have shown remarkable improvements in service delivery, patient care, and staff discipline. This is what happens when leadership prioritizes health,” Dr. Oweh said.

He explained that the visited facilities include Government Hospital Agbarho, General Hospital Orerokpe, and General hospital Ekpan. Dr. Oweh noted that the monitoring exercise was part of ongoing efforts to ensure accountability and efficiency in hospital administration, free maternal care, and under-five in line with the state government’s “MORE” agenda.

Dr. Oweh also used the opportunity to appreciate the hospital management teams for their cooperation and urged them to sustain the momentum by maintaining high professional standards and ensuring that patients receive quality healthcare services.
