THE Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has described the late Chief Cletus Mutu, a former President of the Customary Court in Ezebiri Community, as a man of exceptional personality whose remarkable service to humanity will be deeply missed.
Governor Oborevwori made this statement during the funeral rites of Chief Mutu at Akugbene community, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.
Represented by his Senior Policy Adviser, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, the governor said the late Mutu was a man of unique character ,who left behind legacies of imperishable value.
“We are gathered here to honour and pay tribute to a very unique personality who, by all accounts, through tributes, documents, and his biography, was truly a great son of the state. He was a community leader, a peacemaker, and a man in the temple of justice. He lived well, and we are proud of his great service to humanity,” Oborevwori said.
He noted that the gathering was to condole with the Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, the community, the Mutu family, Bomadi Local Government Area, and the Ijaw Nation at large.
The Governor also extended his condolences to the late Mutu’s children, urging them to emulate their father’s virtues and surpass his achievements. He prayed for God to grant them the strength to bear the loss.
Oborevwori expressed appreciation to all who attended the funeral rites, including the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and prayed for journey mercies for all guests.
Responding on behalf of the family, Hon. Nicholas Mutu thanked the governor for honouring their invitation and his continued friendship. He also appreciated everyone who came to support the family during this difficult time, praying for God’s blessings upon them.
The event was attended by notable political figures, including Senator James Manager, the Delta State APC Chairman, members of the state and National Assemblies, and other dignitaries.
