Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has earned commendation for his proactive measures to sustain healthcare delivery and address the welfare of resident doctors in the state amidst the ongoing nationwide strike by the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD).
The Chief Medical Director of the Asaba Specialist Hospital, Dr. Peace Ighosewe, speaking with The Pointer lauded the governor’s proactive measures in addressing the medical welfare of Deltans and operational needs of resident doctors.
Dr. Ighosewe said the governor’s intervention reflects his administration’s commitment to maintaining uninterrupted medical services and motivating healthcare professionals despite the nationwide challenges facing the health sector.
“The governor has shown remarkable interest in ensuring that our hospitals remain functional and that health workers are adequately motivated to deliver quality service. His prompt response to issues affecting resident doctors is commendable,” she said.
The CMD also praised the Resident Doctors and medical team at the Asaba Specialist Hospital for their commitment during the recent strike actions that disrupted medical services in several parts of the country.
She noted that despite the surge in patient numbers, medical staff at the hospital remained dedicated, ensuring that no life was lost.
“Even when other centres were on strike, our staff worked tirelessly to attend to the high number of patients who turned to us for care. Their passion and dedication kept the system running, and the management is profoundly grateful,” Dr. Ighosewe added.
She reaffirmed the hospital management’s readiness to continue supporting the state government’s healthcare reforms, emphasising that the Asaba Specialist Hospital remains committed to delivering world-class medical services to all Deltans.
