Make Passport Issuance Less Burdensome ––Dcns Oborevwori

  • Receives First Female Immigration Comptroller

TO ease the recorded burden faced by Deltans and Nigerians in g ene ra l , in obt a ining international passport, wife of the Delta State Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori has made a passionate appeal to the immigration service to see that the process is made less burdensome.

The First Lady made the appeal, yesterday, when she received on a courtesy visit to her office, senior officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Delta State Command.

She congratulated the leader of the delegation and Comptroller of the state Command, CIS Victoria Aigbe for being the first female comptroller, as well as the first Deltan to head the state command.

While encouraging her to make the most of the opportunity in terms of impact, the wife of the Governor drew her attention to the difficulty being experienced by citizens in trying to gain access to international passports.

In her words, “It is a well- known fact that women are known to be change makers and I want to encourage you to use your good office to see that the process is made less cumbersome.

“I count it a great privilege to be hosting officers of your caliber, this being the first time the Immigration Service is paying a visit to my office.

“And I want to assure you that as a government, we are ready to give you all the necessary support needed to make your service worthwhile.

“I really commend all that you have achieved in less than 3 months of your transfer to this state, especially with providing a befitting convenience for the office “.

The Governor’s wife encouraged them to join the train of the You Matter Charity Foundation, especially with regards to the eradication of gender-based violence and human trafficking.

In her remarks, CIS Aigbe noted that the outstanding nature of the First Lady informed their visit to her office.

On behalf of the officers, she extended her appreciation to the wife of the Governor for giving them the opportunity.

“My posting to Delta State is more like a home coming because this is my place of origin and I am committed to using the opportunity to achieve something worthwhile.

“Upon my posting to the state command, I observed that our headquarter here did not have any convenience and immediately we swung into action such that today, the toilets have been fixed and are working properly “, she noted.

They expressed their willingness and readiness to work with and support the Governor’s wife in championing causes for women and children. The officers presented an award of recognition to the First Lady after which the Controller had a private meeting with her, to discuss other issues.

In a related development, Deaconess Oborevwori also played host to the Noble Ladies Organization, a political support group for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the You Matter Charity Foundation.

While welcoming the group to her office, she thanked them for their support and loyalty while admonishing them to live up to their promises especially as it has to do with mobilization of voters.

In her motherly manner, she advised them to continue to embrace God and put their families at the fore front of their priorities.

In her address, the leader and founder of the organization, wife of the Deputy Governor, Ezinne Catherine Onyeme, noted that the group comprised a dynamic network of women focused on promoting development and advancing charitable causes.

She assured the First Lady of the groups unalloyed support financially, spiritually and physically towards the success of the current administration and the You Matter Charity Foundation.

They made cash donations to the wife of the Governor as part of efforts to advance the activities of the You Matter Charity Foundation.

The group, which consisted of wives of Honourable Members, wives of commissioners, political appointees, especially of Ndokwa descent, is also made up of champions who mobilize women at the grassroots level.

The delegation also received gifts from the office of the First Lady, amidst joyful songs of support and solidarity .
