The Umuojeagu Royal Family Of Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State has called on members of the public to disregard the media report identifying Christopher Okechukwu Adigwe Ugboma as an Obi.
The family in a statement signed by Prince Andrew Igwenwanne, stated that it was a misrepresentation of the situation in the community.
The statement read: “The attention of Umuojeagu Royal Family of Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area, Delta State, has been drawn to The Pointer Newspaper publication of yesterday, Friday, October 10, 2025, on page 8, whereby one Christopher Ikechukwu Adigwe Ugboma was referred to as Obi Christopher Ikechukwu Adigwe Ugboma 11 in a displayed photograph with the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, and the Ugoani of Okpanam, HRM Dr. Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu, after a peace meeting over land matter.
“The essence of this publication is to call on members of the public to discountenance the publication as no time was the said Christopher Ikechukwu Adigwe Ugboma, whose lineage has no link to the Obiship of the kingdom installed as an Obi.
“His claim as an Obi is a subject of litigation in Suit No. HCI/36/2023 at Issele-Uku High Court, with His Lordship, Hon. Justice E.G Timi (Mrs.) issuing an Interlocutory Injunction Order against him on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. The order is still subsisting.
“Consequently, it will amount to contempt of court for Christopher Ikechukwu Adigwe Ugboma to continue to present himself as an Obi, thereby undermining the court of competent jurisdiction. The court will be informed appropriately.
“In the interim, the general public is advised to discountenance the publication”.
