WITH the 2027 general elections drawing close, the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Sen Ede Dafinone, has said legislation must translate into real opportunities for the people.
He said his legislative work has been guided by a clear and consistent objective: to deliver measurable, people-focused outcomes for Delta Central.
Speaking to The Pointer in an exclusive interview, he said, “I have sponsored and supported key bills such as the Federal University of Agricultural Technology, Orerokpe (Now at its third reading), the Delta Compensation Bill, and the Federal University of Education, Isiokolo, all aimed at strengthening education, innovation, and institutional capacity”.
Added to this, Sen Dafinone disclosed that, within three years of representing his people, he has presented critical motions, including the condemnation of the Okuama killings and restoration of democratic representation in affected constituencies.
Beyond this, he said, he had been a strong advocate for strategic infrastructure. Notable among them is the push for the extension of the Ujevwu-Itakpe rail line to Abuja.
“Our people are among the primary users of that corridor and expanding it into a more efficient national link will significantly boost trade, mobility, and economic integration,’’ Sen Dafinone added.
He also disclosed that his approach to representation is simple: impact must be visible, tangible, and widely felt.
Dafinone added that under the 2024 budget alone, his office executed projects across education, power, infrastructure, and community development, adding that these include the construction of ICT Centres in multiple schools, such as Urhobo College, Effurun, Ogor Technical College, and Orhuwhorun Grammar School, as well as equipping youths with the tools needed for a modern economy.
