A Nigerian activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, known for assisting in the rescue of kidnap victims, has issued a public apology following allegations of misconduct.
Harrison was arrested in December 2025 over accusations that he misappropriated more than N5 million from the ransom meant to rescue a kidnapped couple, Mr and Mrs Segiru, in Edo State. He was granted bail on December 19, 2025, by the Edo State High Court.
Since his release, several individuals, including social media personality VeryDarkMan, have criticised him online for collecting funds from members of the public to assist in kidnapping cases.
Breaking his silence amid the controversy, Harrison tendered a public apology in a video shared on his Instagram page yesterday. He admitted failing to manage resources responsibly.
“Good morning, my name is Harrison Gwamnishu. I’m here to apologise to everyone I have wronged, whether in the videos I have made, the posts I have shared, or in the course of my duty. Today is January 3, 2026, and I sincerely apologise to everyone,” he said.
Harrison acknowledged mismanaging funds sent to him for case resolutions, specifically mentioning a woman who sent him N600,000, and assured that repayment is ongoing. He also apologised to Franklin, whose case he had delegated to another person, pledging to clear all outstanding payments.
He further extended apologies to anyone offended by his actions, stating: “To everyone who may feel offended by me coming out to apologise, I’m the one who made mistakes and I’m the one saying sorry.
‘’I also want to apologise to VeryDarkMan. I hold you in high esteem. From day one, I have never seen you as a bad person. You have done a lot for Nigerians, and I, too, am grateful for your guidance in the past.”
Harrison’s apology marks his first public statement since the allegations.
