Group Donates Furniture To Community Health Centre

A Non-Governmental Organization, Aniocha/Oshimili Association of Houston in Texas, USA, has donated chairs, office curtain, fans, and matrasses to Issele-Azagba health center, as part of their support for rural health initiative, for the comfort of both patients and medical staff.

Speaking to The Pointer shortly after the presentation of the items, Hon. Peter Okolie, said that the initiative was to provide conducive environment for the community health center, describing the facility as the only functional government health institution in the community.

Okolie commended the efforts of Dr Oliver Anam, who is representing the association at home, adding that it was a collective effort to reach out to the facility with the available funds and support the government pursuit for quality healthcare services in the rural areas.

He said that their vision was to provide a cleaner envi­ronment for the comfort of the patients and would gradu­ally support the facility until it becomes standard, covering over 30,000 residents in Issele-Azagba Community.

In the same vein, the Youth Leader, Mr Joseph Nwasiana commended the association for supporting the Primary Health Center and also thanked Dr Oliver Anam who is representing the association, while the people will start to enjoy cleaner environment in the health center.

Earlier, the President- General of Issele-Azagba, Elder Patrick Isichei, expressed appreciation to their brothers and sisters in Houston for recognizing the health center, thanked them for the gesture.

The Matron, Mrs.Theresa Anikwue, expressed grati­tude and pointed out that since her years of service in Issele-Azagba they have not witnessed such support, as the facility was neglected for a long time but maintained it has become a modern health facility.

She encouraged the group to continue reaching out to their people through their leaders, sensitizing the public on the need to access health services in the facility, add­ing that better equipment, drugs, furniture and different health programmes of the state government is available waiting for the people to access.
