A youth group, Four Brothers, has donated food items to inmates of the Nigeria Correctional Service, Agbor, Delta State.
The group, whose membership is drawn from four different zones in the country, made the donation during a scheduled visit to the NCS office in Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
One of the leaders of the group, Mr. Maxwell Okotie, said the gesture was a collective effort and part of their annual resolve to show love to the sick in hospitals, orphans and the less privileged in society.
He explained that they decided to visit the NCS, Agbor, this year because the inmates are their “brothers, sisters, and friends.” He urged the inmates to remain faithful to God, noting that there is an end to every challenge in life. Okotie also thanked the NCoS Controller in Agbor, Superintendent Chibuzor Okoyeagwu, for the good work he is doing with his team to rehabilitate inmates.
The secretary of the group, Mr. Ezekiel Ogbonyeri, who also addressed the inmates, encouraged them to be strong and use the period to draw closer to God, stressing that there is light at the end of thee tunnel. He reminded them that every challenge in life has a purpose, urging them to seek the support of God, who alone can properly and adequately address all challenges.
Ogbonyeri called on the inmates to put behind the incidents that led to their incarceration and to focus on self-improvement so they can become better members of society upon regaining freedom. He assured that the group would continue to identify with the NCoS, Agbor, particularly in the area of inmates’ welfare.
Earlier, the Agbor NCoS Controller, Superintendent Chibuzor Okoyeagwu, thanked members of the Four Brothers group for their genorosity.
