DTSG Reiterates Commitment To Workers Welfare

STAKEHOLDERS in the education sector have been urged to continue to contribute to the success of the ‘Opportunity for All’, component of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori administration’s M.O.R.E. Agenda.

The Chief of Staff, Government House, Hon Prince Johnson Erijo, made the call when a delegation of the Association of Education Officers in the Delta State Civil Service paid him a courtesy visit.

Erijo said the government had, as a matter of deliberate policy, remained committed to ensuring a conducive environment for teaching and learning through the construction and renovation of school infrastructure, but the onus was on children to take advantage of the opportunity provided.

The Chief of Staff commended the Education Officers for their dedication to duty, which had helped to ensure that the standard and quality of education in the state did not drop, describing them as partners in progress.

He noted that the civil service remained the engine room for governance, as nothing could be achieved by the political class without the support, cooperation and technocratic inputs of the civil servants, assuring that the government would continue to take the welfare of the

Erijo thanked the delegation for the visit and for the kind sentiments expressed in the State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, pledging the readiness of government to look into the requests made by the group.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Chairman of the Association, JemijereUnuigbe, said the professional body comprised of Education Officers in the Ministries of Basic and Secondary, Higher, and Technical Education, as well as affiliate Boards, with the goal of pursuing quality education for all and promoting the welfare of staff.

Unuigbe revealed that the visit was to formally identify with the state government and congratulate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the remarkable strides made so far in the education sector, reaffirm the commitment of Education Officers to the vision of the Oborevwori administration, particularly in strengthening policies and programs aimed at promoting quality education, amongst others.

He solicited the strengthening of training and capacity building programs for Education Officers, provision of essential logistics and work tools, career progression and welfare improvements, as well as inclusion of Education Officers in policy dialogues and strategic planning sessions to ensure informed decision making in educational matters.
