DELTA State Government has directed all public and private primary and secondary schools across the state to resume for the third term, 2024/2025 academic session on Monday, April 28, 2025.
A statement from the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Daniel Akiri on behalf of the state Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu and her counterpart in charge of Ministry of Primary Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu indicated that boarders would resume on Sunday, April 27 .
The statement explained that classes would commence on Monday, April 28, immediately the learners had cleaned up their classrooms under the guidance and supervision of their teachers.
It urged all school heads and teachers to comply with the directive and ensure that they were in school to discharge their statutory responsibility, which is the teaching and learning activities.
The statement implored parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards were adequately prepared for the resumption.
According to the statement, the Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu and Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu of Primary Education as well as the Functioning Permanent Secretary would separately lead the officials of the ministry to monitor the level of compliance for the school resumption.
It stated that the state government would not tolerate any absenteeism among the teachers and stressed that they should be on their duty posts at all times .
