THE Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) is set to hold a public hearing on a bill for a Law to repeal the College of Education, Warri, Law 2008 and the Delta State College of Education, Mosogar, Law, 2016.
The public hearing on the bill, which seeks to enact the Delta State Colleges of Education Law, would hold on Thursday, June 19, 2025.
In a statement made available to the press, the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Education, Hon. Charles Emetulu, hinted that the public hearing which was scheduled to begin by 10:00 in the morning, would hold at the Press Center of the state Assembly Complex.
Emetulu, in the statement, enjoined stakeholders in the state education sector to be part of the public hearing by forwarding copies of memoranda to the House Committee on Education.
Specifically, the statement solicits memoranda from the Delta State Ministry of Higher Education, Delta State College of Education, Warri, College of Education Mosogar, Delta State University Abraka, University of Delta, Agbor, Southern Delta University, Ozoro, and Dennis Osadabey University, Anwai.
The statement also enjoined the Delta State Polytechnic Otefe-Oghara, Delta State Polytechnic , Ogwashi-Uku, Delta State Maritime Polytechnic, Burutu, Ministry of Justice and other critical education stakeholders to be part of the public hearing to make inputs.
The statement added that all memoranda on the proposed law should be in 20 copies, enclosed in a sealed envelope, and addressed to the Chairman, House Committee on Education and marked Delta State Colleges of Education Bill, 2025.
All memoranda, according to the statement, should be submitted to the Clerk of the committee on or before Tuesday, June 17,2025.
The statement appeals to relevant stakeholders to endeavour to participate in the public hearing as their presentation is key to the success of the exercise.
