THE Delta State Contributory Health Commission (DSCHC) is on a verge of going into a strategic partnership with NitroVox Media to enhance public awareness and expand the reach of its health insurance programmes within and beyond the state.
The collaboration aims to strengthen information dissemination about the Delta State Contributory Health Scheme (DSCHS), particularly across digital and social media platforms. It will focus on educating residents about the benefits of enrolling in the scheme while improving access to accurate and timely health-related information. The initiative is expected to leverage NitroVox Media’s communication platforms to drive advocacy, storytelling, and community engagement around healthcare financing.
The partnership proposal was presented during a meeting between officials of the Commission and representatives of NitroVox Media, led by its team leader, Mr Azubuike Oba. The agency commended the Commission for its proactive approach to public enlightenment and its commitment to ensuring that all Deltans have access to affordable and quality healthcare services.
Speaking during the engagement, Mr Oba acknowledged DSCHC’s strides in leveraging digital platforms, noting that the Commission stands out as one of the few government agencies in Nigeria actively utilising tools such as blogs and sponsored social media campaigns to reach citizens. He described the Commission’s efforts as a demonstration of genuine commitment to ensuring that government policies translate into tangible benefits for the people.
He, however, identified opportunities to further enhance the Commission’s online visibility, emphasising the need to adopt Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) strategies to improve the ranking of the Commission’s website on search engines like Google. According to him, this would enable more residents seeking information on enrolment and the benefits of the scheme to easily access relevant content.
Mr. Oba also stressed the importance of storytelling in driving public engagement, recommending the documentation and promotion of real-life experiences of beneficiaries, including market women, artisans, civil servants, and persons with disabilities. He noted that sharing such impact-driven narratives would not only build public trust but also encourage wider participation in the scheme.
The proposal further highlighted the need for strategic content planning and capacity building for the Commission’s communication team to maximise opportunities in the digital space. By leveraging data-driven tools and emerging technologies, the Commission could significantly expand its reach and sustain its leadership in health communication among Nigerian states.
Responding, the Director-General of the Commission, Dr Isaac Akpoveta appreciated the presentation and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to innovative approaches to deepen awareness and improve access to healthcare services. He noted that increased media visibility remains critical to achieving wider enrolment, particularly among underserved and rural populations.
Dr. Akpoveta added that the Commission has consistently adopted various advocacy strategies, including partnerships with associations and key stakeholders, to deepen grassroots participation in the scheme. He expressed optimism that collaboration with NitroVox Media would further strengthen public awareness and accelerate progress toward achieving universal health coverage in Delta State.
The Commission reiterated its commitment to continuous innovation and strategic partnerships, noting that effective communication remains a vital tool in advancing its “Health for All” agenda and improving overall health outcomes in the state.
