Delta SERVICOM To Partner TUC, NLC For Improved Service Delivery

By Chika Kwamba

To further fortify the workforce and welfare of civil servants in the state, SERVICOM has pledged its preparedness to collaborate with Delta State labour leaders.

The Senior Policy Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, disclosed this during a recent visit to The Pointer, accompanied by a member of his team.

The SERVICOM boss said that the SERVICOM team had visited a large number of MDAs, including the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), in pursuit of effective service delivery, as aligned with the MORE Agenda mantra.

He said: “Everything needs to work around time. When I assumed office, the first thing I did was to visit the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). We established a relationship as partners in progress, not a master-servant relationship.”

“Also, we have carried out two training sessions. The labour unions selected the participants, and we trained them on how we can work together to foster industrial peace. The MORE Agenda includes enhanced security components, and there cannot be peace without a proper understanding of the working relationship with the labour unions”, he said.

“Additionally, we have maintained a robust, mutually respectful relationship having conducted a high-profile training with labour unions and the aim was to discuss collaborative strategies for better productivity”, he explained.

Solomon averred that the training also aimed at seeking their opinions on the best ways to ensure smooth cooperation, active listening, and regular engagement, stressing that Delta State remained one of the most peaceful in terms of labour-government relations.
