Delta Committed To Building Efficient, Digitally-Driven Civil Service -Amioku

BY RITA OYIBOKA

THE Delta State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building a digitally driven and efficient civil service with the commencement of a Leadership Development Workshop for officers on Salary Grade Levels 08 to 10.

The one-day workshop, organised yesterday by the Delta State Civil Service Commission, was held at the Amphi-Theatre of the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park, Asaba, and brought together key stakeholders, facilitators, and civil servants.

Declaring the workshop open, the Chairman, Delta State Civil Service Commission, Noble (Chief) Roseline Amioku, commended the state government for investing in human capital development, stressing that the initiative was a deliberate move to prepare mid-level officers for greater responsibilities. “It gives the commission another opportunity to provide a platform for growth to its officers. I also salute our resource persons, especially the Head of Service Emeritus, Sir Okechukwu Ofili, who have consistently collaborated with the commission in this mission of acquiring effective and efficient management skills for the career growth of civil servants and improved service delivery to the State.

“To our distinguished participants, if you take a glimpse at the topics to be covered, you will agree with me that this is a deliberate and well-orchestrated effort to place you on a pedestal of readiness. Therefore, take full advantage of this opportunity to enhance your skills, knowledge, and capabilities as future directors and leaders of the civil service,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary of the Civil Service Commission, Mr Fred Yoro, described the workshop as a direct expression of the government’s passion for human capital development. “With the governor’s gracious approval, this training has been carefully designed to equip officers on levels 8 to 10, who are the future leaders of the service. The workshop is born out of the commission’s vision to provide competent leadership that will make civil servants better while ensuring that the impact is sustained.  “It is also in tandem with His Excellency’s MORE agenda of training and retraining of staff to build capacity. In this regard, the Commission has carefully selected distinguished resource persons to handle this workshop,” Yoro said.

The second member of the commission, Dr Akpufoma Pemu, while addressing newsmen, emphasised that the training was part of Governor Oborevwori’s “MORE Agenda,” which prioritises a digital civil service where no one is left behind.

“Training at levels 08 to 10 is particularly important because this is when civil servants begin to assume leadership responsibilities. The best way civil servants can reciprocate is by putting in their best and acquiring the skills to become better officers for the state and humanity,” he said.
