Delta Admin Officers Forum Breaks Five-Year Jinx

…Inducts 151 Officers Into Cadre

BY PATRICK MGBODO

AFTER a five-year hiatus, the Administrative Officers Forum of the Delta State Civil Service has inducted 151 officers into its fold to further strengthen institutional excellence in the public service architecture.

The two-day induction and orientation ceremony, held in Asaba, was witnessed by the Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Mininim Oseji, retired Heads of Service, serving and retired Permanent Secretaries, as well as senior government functionaries.

Flagging off the ceremony, the Head of Service congratulated the inductees on their successful conversion to the prestigious administrative officers’ cadre, stressing that their selection is a testament of the confidence reposed in them to provide leadership within Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

DrOseji charged them to, among other things, uphold the Public Service Rules and Financial Regulation without compromise provide sound administrative advice, ensure effective records management and documentation, promote transparency, accountability and professionalism, and demonstrate neutrality and loyalty to government policies.

‘’I urge you to see the conversion and induction into the Administrative Officers Cadre not as an elevation of status but as an expansion of duty. The expectations are higher, the scrutiny is greater, and the responsibility is heavier.

‘’The Governor expects a lot more from the civil service in the above regard. Hence, his gracious approval and support in line with the MORE Agenda of his administration’’ she said.

At the closing ceremony, the Chairman of the Forum, Mr Emokiniovo Itobore, who assumed leadership in 2025, said the induction was for recently converted officers from 2021 to 2024 into the Administrative Officers Cadre, and expressed fulfilment that the feat was recorded in his tenure.

He briefed the Head of Service on the painstaking efforts by eminent resource persons during the two-day seminar to orient the inductees, expressing confidence that they would justify the training and contribute their quota in uplifting the civil service.

‘’For those years, it (induction) did not happen because of the paucity of funds. In times like these, it is not easy. So, we commend the Governor and the Head of Service for making it possible that we have the needed funds to do what we have done’’ he said.

Welcoming the inductees into the cadre, the Dean of the Forum, Mr Kingsley Olomukoro, cautioned them to be professional in conduct, efficient in service delivery, ethical in decision making and innovative in solving public problems.

Earlier, a patron of the Forum and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Oghenekevwe Agas, during the opening ceremony, charged the leadership of the Forum to explore ways of professionalising the Administrative Cadre.
