IT was a joyful atmosphere filled with laughter and nostalgia as the DELSU Mass Communication Class of 1998 reunited in Asaba.
The gathering was themed “Reconnect, Relive, and Reunite” and aimed to rekindle bonds, celebrate shared journeys, and look ahead to the future.
Now known as the Indomitable Class of ‘98, members proudly reflected on their journey 27 years after graduation from Delta State University, Abraka.
The reunion blended business, politics, entertainment, and storytelling, with members recalling campus life and sharing personal and professional milestones.
Many attendees have become senior government officials, CEOs, directors, lecturers, and successful entrepreneurs.
Coordinator of the group, Thompson Tonwei Ebaretonbofa, presided over the ceremony that also included a few surprises and emotional reunions.
Some attendees could hardly recognize one another after 27 years, recalling the days when “men were boys, and ladies were babes.”
Those unable to attend physically, including Dr. Boniface Onyedi, joined via video calls and sent goodwill messages.
Dr. Onyedi, a former coordinator and current aide to Governor Sim Fubara, sent heartfelt greetings to the class.
Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Hon. Samuel Oligida, expressed joy in reconnecting with old classmates.
He emphasized the values of love, unity, and support while highlighting business opportunities in Delta State.
Other dignitaries included Prof. Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, and NUJ Delta Chairman, Comrade Churchill Oyowe.
They expressed gratitude to God and optimism about the group’s continued relevance in society.
Speakers praised those who helped reconnect classmates after almost three decades and acknowledged God’s faithfulness.
The reunion theme sparked memories of campus life between 1994 and 1998, with members reflecting on highs and lows.
Gratitude was expressed to the organizers for making the event memorable and impactful.
Reunion Committee Chairman and Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Nkem Nwaeke, commended members’ participation and enthusiasm.
He described the event as a huge success and a testament to enduring friendship.
