SENATOR Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has donated an 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus to the Okpe Youth Council (OYC), as part of efforts to empower youths in the Okpe Kingdom and strengthen their operations across communities.
The handover ceremony took place at the Senator’s residence in Sapele Local Government Area, and was witnessed by the OYC President, Mr Moses Odiete, along with key members of the Council’s Executive.
Speaking during the presentation, Senator Dafinone said the donation was the fulfillment of a promise he made to the Council prior to the 2022 electioneering campaigns.
“I had appealed to the Okpe Youth Council for patience when they first approached me with this request, and today, I am pleased to have kept that promise,” Dafinone stated. “The OYC plays a crucial role as the apex youth body of the Okpe Kingdom. This vehicle will improve their mobility, enhance their capacity for community outreach, and help them consolidate on their efforts to unite and empower our youth.”
In his remarks, OYC President, Comrade Odiete, expressed appreciation to Senator Dafinone for what he described as a timely and impactful intervention. “This donation will ease the operational challenges we have faced over the years and enable us to reach more communities to execute our programmes effectively. Senator Dafinone has shown true leadership and commitment to youth empowerment,” he said.
Other members of the Council’s Executive echoed similar sentiments, describing the donation as a major boost to the Council’s capacity to mobilize and engage Okpe youths productively.
The ceremony also attracted supporters who commended Senator Dafinone for prioritizing youth development initiatives. Many noted that such interventions would encourage the active participation of more young people in community and socio-economic development within Delta Central.
Senator Dafinone reaffirmed his commitment to initiatives that foster youth inclusion, unity, and sustainable development. He urged the OYC leadership to make effective use of the vehicle and to continue championing programmes that create opportunities for the younger generation.
