The police have arraigned a 30-year-old man, Ikechukwu Okafor, for allegedly blackmailing and demanding with menace.
He is currently facing court charges in the Asaba Magisterial District, Asaba.
According to the charge sheet No. CMA.330.C.2025, “You, Ikechukwu Okafor, on or before the 9th day of April 2025 at Asaba in the Asaba Magisterial District. Count 1 stated that you, Ikechukwu Okafor, did demand with menaces the sum of one million naira from Chidimma Uzosike with a threat to post her nude pictures on Facebook if she did not meet up with your demand.
‘’You hereby committed an offence punishable under Section 406 of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006.”
Count 2 stated that, “You, Ikechukwu Okafor, on the same date and place in the same Magisterial District, did defame the character of Chidimma Uzosike by publishing on Facebook that she is a woman with derogatory character or action, which has exposed her to contempt, hatred, and ridicule.
‘’Thereby, you committed an offence punishable under Section 375 of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006.”
“It stated in Count 3: that you, Ikechukwu Okafor, on the same date and place in the same Magisterial District did, with intent to extort, threaten to publish the private pictures and private information of Chidimma Uzosike.
‘’And thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 376 of the Criminal Code Cap C21 Vol. 1, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006,” the charge read.
The case is before the court and proceedings are ongoing.
