The Secretary to the Delta State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu has urged public servants to focus on effective service delivery in line with Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration’s MORE Agenda.
Emu made call when he officially declared open a one-day training session for Servicom officers, with the theme ‘Improving Service Delivery in Delta State.’
In his words, “the major challenge of development is the nature of bureaucracy we have in the public and civil service which is characterized by poor service delivery”.
He noted that service delivery should be timely, effective and accurate in order to propagate the MORE Agenda in the Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration.
The SSG called on all Deltans holding public office to do their best in serving the people in best possible ways to ensure good service delivery.
“The expected change in governance to foster the MORE Agenda must first begin with the touch bearers ,” he added.
In his remarks, the Head of Service, Mr. Reginald Bayoko called on public servants to uphold efficiency as the pivot in service delivery.
Bayoko observed that an African proverb which tells the story of a goat that belongs to a community ends up dying of starvation because everyone thought the other person will feed the goat. “Simply put, when a responsibility is everyone business service delivery suffers”, he said.
He said: “service is what we offer ourselves for, and the people are entitled to”.
Earlier, the Senior Policy Adviser to the Governor, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon charged top public servants to uphold the MORE Agenda in service delivery.
