Ashibogwu Stresses Importance Of Dedication In Schools

By Rita Oduah

The Nigeria Forest Security Service (Delta State Command), has pledged to deepen with Oshimili South Local Government Area  in the fight against crime and other unlawful activities within the state’s forest areas.

Deputy Commander, Peter Obus, who led the command on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government, Hon. Kelvin Ezenyili, said the service was established to combat crimes in forests, including banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, and illegal logging.

Obus explained that the command’s duties also cover enhancing forest security, preventing bushfires, providing intelligence in partnership with host communities, and flushing out criminal hideouts in collaboration with other security agencies.

While appealing for an office space at the Oshimili South Secretariat, Asaba, the Deputy Commander said such provision would enable seamless synergy with existing security structures in the local government.

In his response, the Chairman, Hon. Ezenyili, commended the service for its efforts in safeguarding forest areas and tackling related criminal activities in Delta State. He assured the visiting team that their request for an office would be given due consideration in consultation with the local government executives.

To strengthen coordination, the Chairman directed the Head of Personnel Management (HPM), Mrs. Chidinma Idao, to include Mr. Nwabuoku Azikiwe, the Oshimili South Forest Security Commander, as a member of the Council Security Committee. He noted that the inclusion would enhance communication and cooperation between the council and the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Forest Security Service.
