TROOPS of the Headquarters 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 1 Joint Task Force, Operation Delta Safe (OPDS) have arrested 183 suspected internet fraudsters during a raid in Warri, Delta State.
The operation, which took place on July 19, 2025, followed credible intelligence on the activities of the suspects.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 63 Brigade Asaba, Captain Iliyasu Bawa Rijau, the suspects, all male and aged between 16 and 29, were apprehended in apartments reportedly used as an internet fraud training centre.
Items recovered during the raid include 274 assorted laptops, 87 mobile phones, nine laptop chargers, a table phone and two WiFi devices.
The army has revealed that preliminary investigations are ongoing and pledged to take necessary action to tackle cybercrime in the region.
Commending the troops for their operational successes, the Commander, 63 Brigade and Sector 1 Joint Task Force, OPDS, Brigadier- General Moronfolu Shonibare, urged members of the public to continue to support military efforts to sustain peace and security in Delta State.
