It was a colourful gathering of family, friends, political associates, and dignitaries on Thursday as the Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ighoyota Amori, marked his 73rd birthday at his Asaba residence.
His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu, described Senator Amori as “a man of remarkable and unmatched reputation, an inspiration for others to emulate.”
According to the Governor, the annual celebration of Senator Amori’s birthday has always sparked his curiosity, but the massive turnout at the event provided the answer.
“I have always wondered why Senator Amori celebrates his birthday every year, but today the question has been answered with this huge turnout. I propose we change the day from Birthday to Amori Caucus Day,” the Governor said to applause from the audience.
The celebration attracted an impressive list of political heavyweights and public figures, including All Progressives Congress (APC) State Chairman, Engr. Omeni Sobotie; Former PDP State Chairmen, Chief Solomon Arenyeka and Barr. Kingsley Esiso; Commissioner of Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije; Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Chief Peter Uviejitobor; Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Mr. Ejiro Etacherure; Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode; Chief Fred Majemite; Chief Moses Odibo; Chief Anthony Akpomiemie; Engr. Bobor Abraham; Dr. Mrs. Philomena Oyearone; Hon. Austin Ayemidejor; Chief Edwin Uzor; Hon. Ebireri Sunday, among many others.
In his remarks, the celebrant expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for honouring him with his presence and to everyone who joined in the occasion.
“Events like this tell you if you have friends or not,” Senator Amori said with a smile. “There is a saying that many are called but few are chosen, but in this case, it is many are called and many are chosen. I really appreciate every one of you. My family is here, my children both biological and otherwise, and when I look around, I see my political family members. It is my prayer that as you have come to celebrate with me, you will always have celebrations in Jesus’ name.”
The evening was marked by warm tributes, laughter, and an atmosphere of unity that underscored the celebrant’s enduring influence and bonds across Delta State’s political and social circles.
