Align With The Governor’s Vision, DSPG Alumni Tells Stakeholders

BY LUCY EZELIORA

THE National President of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku (DSPG) Alumni Association, Comrade Ufuomas Onowakpor, has applauded the Delta State Government and the State House of Assembly for their timely intervention and decisive action regarding the lingering issues between the school management and the Governing Council of the institution.

Comrade Onowakpor made the remarks, during the inauguration of the Warri Chapter of the Alumni Association held at the PTI Conference Centre, Effurun, Delta State.

He expressed appreciation to the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevworifor his firm and proactive response to the crisis, which involves allegations of financial misconduct and certificate racketeering within the institution.

“The Alumni Association of Delta State Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, has received the decision of the State House of Assembly and the directive of the Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, concerning the issues between the school management and the Governing Council,” Onowakpor stated.

“It is a thing of joy, and we appreciate the timely intervention of the state government and the decisions taken to address the matter pending further investigation.”

The National President emphasised that while the Alumni Association welcomes the government’s action, it also urges all parties involved to respect and fully comply with the governor’s directive to ensure peace and order within the institution.

“As ambassadors and stakeholders of the institution, we strongly advise that the directive of the state governor be followed properly and executed as instructed. Any attempt by individuals or groups to act otherwise or pursue personal interests could lead to further misunderstanding or unrest in the institution,” he warned.

Comrade Onowakpor reaffirmed the Alumni association’s support for the state government’s stand, adding that the body would monitor developments closely to ensure proper and timely implementation of the directive.

“Now that the state government has taken a stand on the issue, we wish to state clearly that we stand firmly with the decision of the governor. We will follow through to ensure the full implementation of the directive from start to finish,” he said.

“We will not appreciate or tolerate any attempt to undermine, delay, or twist the directive of the governor before implementation. The Alumni Association stands solidly with the government and will continue to observe closely to ensure that due process is followed to the letter.”

He further noted that adherence to the government’s decision would help preserve the institution’s integrity, prevent further rancour, and safeguard the reputation of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, before the public.

“Our institution is a beacon of learning and pride to Delta State. We must not allow internal conflicts or personal interests to drag its name into disrepute. We call on all parties to put the institution first and work in unity for its progress,” he added.
