POLITICIAN and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has called for the abolishment of the United Nations following the abduction of the Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, by the United States of America.
Sowore, the founder of the Africa Action Congress (AAC), who made the call yesterday on his Facebook handle, also called for the next edition of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting.
According to the activist, ‘’I repeat, it is time to abolish the United Nations of jokers. Serious nations of the world should withdraw legitimacy from this hollow institution and boycott the next United Nations General Assembly #UNGA. An organisation that cannot stop impunity, aggression, or mass suffering has outlived its purpose.’’
Over the weekend, US troops bombarded the Venezuelan capital at the behest of President Trump, capturing and his wife to face justice in New York for sponsoring drug sales in America.
Trump’s act has since come under heavy criticism from world powers, including China and Russia, with many accusing the American President of being inspired by the huge oil deposits in Venezuela.
