DISC Media and Telecoms Limited, a leading Nigerian telecommunications firm, was recently involved in a pivotal role as an official sponsor of Delta Tech Week 2025, a major regional event aimed at driving technological innovation and digital infra- structure in the South-South region.
The five-day event held in Asaba with the theme: “Building Smart Cities and Digital Infrastructure in South–South Nigeria,” brought together startup founders, corporate leaders, developers, policy makers and tech innovators for high-impact keynotes, technical workshops, panel discussions, product demonstrations and intensive networking sessions.
In a keynote address, Mr. Harold Monu, Managing Director of Disc Media and Telecoms Ltd, outlined a bold roadmap for turning the South-South into a digitally empowered region.
Monu commended the Delta State Government and the Hon. Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr. Odinigwe Daniel Odigie, for organizing the initiative, describing it as a timely push for regional progress.
The Managing Director emphasized the need for a robust digital foundation to harness the South-South’s potential. He outlined key areas such as expanding broadband access, implementing digital identity systems, promoting smart governance through data-driven policies and building innovation hubs to support startups and skills development.
According to him “Smart cities are not about gadgets or fancy screens, but improving lives. The South-South has talents, the energy and abundance of entrepreneurial spirit. What we must focus on is the digital foundation that allows these potentials to flourish.”
Monu called for a unified effort from governments, private sector, the academia and international partners to integrate the region into the global digital economy, saying that without such investments, opportunities for inclusive growth could be missed.
The event’s theme mirrored Monu’s address, underscoring Delta State’s commitment to adopting advanced technologies like high-speed connectivity and citizen-focused digital services.
In a post-event statement, Disc Media and Telecoms expressed pride in its involvement. “We are honoured to be part of this transformative movement. The future of the South-South will be built through collaboration, innovation and a shared vision for sustainable digital progress.”
Founded as an indigenous Nigerian company, Disc Media and Telecoms Ltd is licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) as an Internet Service Provider and Regional Private Network Link Service Provider.
It offers high-speed fibre broadband, fixed-line telephony, enterprise ICT solutions and data-networking services to households, businesses, educational institutions and government entities nationwide.
The Delta Tech Week 2025 highlighted the increasing momentum in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem, positioning the South-South as a hub for digital transformation.
