The Pointer Appreciates Adebayo, Others For Financial Support To Staff

BY RITA OYIBOKA

THE management of Delta Printing and Publishing Corporation (DPPC), Publisher of The Pointer Newspaper, has expressed deep appreciation to veteran journalist, media consultant and business man,Asiwaju Sola Adebayo, for donating N7.5million towards the medical treatment of one of the organisation’s staff members, Mr. Awele Ogbogu.

The organization described it as timely and life-saving, adding that it came on the heels of earlier contributions made by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), The Pointer Chapel, further facilitating Mr. Ogbogu’s ongoing treatment. The Pointer NUJ Chapel had earlier pooled resources to support their colleague before Adebayo’s intervention.

General Manager of DPPC, Mrs. Rosemary Nwaebuni, commended Adebayo’s long-standing humanitarian commitment, noting that his philanthropic footprint within and outside the industry continues to set a benchmark for responsible leadership.

She said Adebayo’s benevolence was not a one-off occurrence but part of a track record of targeted support, especially concerning the health and well-being of journalists. “We had earlier contributed from our meagre income, believing that every little effort matters. But what Asiwaju Adebayo has done is nothing short of transformative. He has once again demonstrated that he stands firmly with journalists, particularly when they face health challenges. We pray that God continues to bless and uplift him for his untiring kindness.”

She appreciated all, including staff members and other well-meaning individuals who contributed towards the cause, including Delta State Director of Statistics, Nkechi Maduemezia and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Mr. Sam Erhunmwesee, reaffirming The Pointer’s commitment to standing by its staff and ensuring that no personnel face difficult circumstances alone.

Also speaking, Chairman, NUJ The Pointer Chapel, Comrade Godwin Nzemeke, expressed appreciation on behalf of the chapel, saying, “we are astounded and deeply grateful for this act of philanthropy. We pray God to bless him and replenish his pocket.”

In his remarks, Mr. Awele Ogbogu expressed gratitude to Asiwaju Adebayo, praying for his continued prosperity and enablement to keep impacting lives.
