Get Involved In Repositioning Asaba, Asagba Urges Group

The Asagba of Asaba, His Royal Majesty, Prof. Epiphany Azinge SAN, has reminded Diamond Ladies Circle of Asaba, as well as individuals and organizations that they are critical stakeholders in the affairs of the community.

The monarch gave the charge while receiving mattresses donated to the Asaba Drug Victims Rehabilitation Centre by the association.

The monarch said the task of repositioning Asaba is not for the throne or Palace Chiefs alone, but for all sons and daughters of the town and others residing in the state capital, adding that the contribution of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) would go a long way to facilitate the actualization of the vision of rebranding Asaba.

He commended the donors for their kind gesture, which he noted would help care for children and youths who were victims of drug abuse and urged members of the group not only to lead advocacy against drug peddling, but also pray for the quick rehabilitation of the addicts.

The Asagba expressed hope that the gesture would spur more organisations and individuals to assist the victims, stressing that the welfare of inmates, including those addicted to drugs, remained a topmost priority.

The traditional ruler assured the Diamond Ladies Circle that the mattresses would be made available to inmates and solicited more support for the rehabilitation centre.

Earlier in an address, President of the Circle, Mrs. Anthonia Damatrus, commended the Asagba for his commitment to the well-being of Asaba, describing his transformative role as quite remarkable.

Damatrus said the group is working on plans to rehabilitate the drug victims, especially the females among them, before the Asagba took the bold step, hence their decision to support the initiative in recognition of the importance of comfort and dignity to the healing process.

The ladies pledged continued support for the monarch’s  vision of a healthier, more united and rebranded Asaba.
