Over a dozen Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA) officials (including men and women), were spotted at the NNPC Link Road/ Airport Road Junction, Warri, recently.
Our correspondent observed that only government traffic warden that were present at Okumagba Estate, Main Market by Warri/ Sapele and police traffic control lady at Robert Road by Warri/ Road during the period of monitoring.
Our correspondent also observed that there was no single DESTMA official at some traffic busy areas, such as Igbudu Market by Bazunu Road, Deco Road Junction by Warri/ Sapele Road, Cinema Site Junction by Okumagba Avenue, NPA / Effurun Highway by Ugbuwangue, Okere Market, McIver Junction by Odion Road , Okere Road Junction by Warri/ Sapele Road, Okere Road by Robert Road Junction among others.
Some commuters, who spoke to our correspondent, expressed displeasure over the abnormal postings of DESTMA officials .
One of the respondent, Chief Akpojotor Adjarho, who lives at the Warri Garage also complained about the idleness of DESTMA officials during busy traffic hours .
He also suggested that DESTMA officials should work beyond 4 pm and saying that they are mostly needed during the rush hours in the mornings and evenings.
