Atuma-Iga Monarch Restores Peace In Community

By Godwin Nzemeka

THE traditional ruler of Atuma- Iga kingdom  in Oshimili North Local Government Area, Delta State, HRM Obi Daniel Ogbudo has restored peace in Ogbe-Onihe village, which has been crisis- ridden for over two years.

The return of peace to Ogbe-Onihe village was sequel to the submission of the report of the reconciliation committee set up by the monarch to find lasting peace in the village. The committee’s report was submitted at an enlarged meeting, attended by Ogbe- Onihe village Diokpa, elders and youths at the king’s Palace over the weekend.

The reconciliation committee led by Hon. Chris Nwamgbor, the leader of Oshimili North Legislative Arm, was established by the royal father on July 6, 2025, to proffer appropriate recommendations for the peaceful resolution of the lingering land dispute plaguing Ogbe- Onihe village.

Other members of the committee are representatives of the Diokpa of Ogbe- Onihe, representatives of the contractor handling the bulldozing and survey of Ogbe- Onihe land, and the members of Ogbe- Onihe bush committee.

Presenting the report, Hon. Nwamgbor declared that the committee discovered that there was a valid contract between the village and the contractor. He explained that after many deliberations, the committee recommended a review of the 45 percent due to the contractor to 38 percent.

Based on the Committee’s report, the Ogbe- Onihe youth executive stands dissolved, until fresh election was conducted. The committee also recommended the withdrawal of all land cases in court initiated by both parties.

Following the adoption of the committee’s report by the people of Ogbe- Onihe and the contractor, the royal father, HRM Obi Ogbudo, thanked the people and ordered that each of the six arms (family groups) that make up Ogbe- Onihe village should select two persons each to form a bush monitoring committee.

His Majesty, Obi Ogbudo, also declared that henceforth, before any land is sold, the Diokpa of Ogbe- Onihe and his council of elders must be consulted.
