Aboh Monarch Extols Diaspora Contributions To Nation Building

The Federal Government has restated its commitment towards harnessing abundant talents of diaspora Nigerians making waves in the global scene to the greatest advantage of the country.

President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume gave the assurance at a one-day summit to mark this years National Diaspora Day organized by the Nigerian Diaspora Commission at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

President Tinubu noted that most diaspora Nigerians were key global players with high pedigree in different fields of human endeavor particularly in health, energy, education, business , entertainment and world economy among other global activities.

In a key note address with the theme : “Harnessing the Power of the Diaspora Towards National Development” , the Special Guest of honour and Father of the day, His Imperial Majesty, the Obi of Aboh , Dr Gregory Nnamdi Oputa 111 remarked that most Nigerians abroad had made major impacts globally in policy formulation, development and implementation and global economy .

The Aboh monarch said with the right atmosphere the global activities of such Nigerians could be replicated and deployed to National development

Dr Gregory Oputa 111 specifically called for greater synergy, stronger connections and unalloyed commitment among diaspora Nigerians towards achieving set National development goals and objectives.

Dr Gregory Oputa 111, who described himself as a foremost Diasporan Nigerian previously living in the United States of America before becoming the king of Aboh Kingdom, underscored the need for Nigerians in Diaspora to pool their resources together through foreign direct investments and coordinated remittances for National development.

The key note speaker explained that the resources pooled together could find expression in tangible but critical development projects as roads construction, building of infrastructure in hospitals, schools and other social amenities with direct bearing on the lives of Nigerians.

On the sideline of the summit the Aboh Monarch held enriching conversations with senior government officials and policy formulators and analysts including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF , Senator George Akume on the imperative of National cohesion and stronger ties with the diasporan community as well attracting global partnerships through engagements, dialogue and diplomacy.

The Monarch also dialogued with the British Deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mrs Gill lever Obe on UK – Nigeria Diaspora Initiatives, education exchange and cultural diplomacy.

Obi Dr Gregory Nnamdi Oputa 111 took advantage of the summit to project Aboh kingdom rich cultural heritage, historical relevance and developmental aspirations of the people to the National and global audience underscoring the importance of of cultural identity and traditional authority in modern governance.

The Aboh Traditional ruler commended the Chairman of the Nigeria Diaspi Commission Mrs Abike Dabiri Erewa for her doggedness in connecting Nigerians in Diaspora with their home country describing her as a bridge builder and patriotic Nigerian.
