SERVICOM Not Out To Witch-Hunt Workers —Funkekeme

BY CHIKA KWAMBA

The Senior Policy Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon has clarified that the SERVICOM initiative is not intended to witch-hunt government bureaucrats, but rather to promote effective service delivery in alignment with the MORE Agenda.

Rt. Hon. Solomon made this known during an exclusive interview with The Pointer, describing the re-launch as a tool to restore dignity in the civil service space.

He further revealed that over 100 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the state, including the 25 local government councils, have undergone training to enhance service delivery.

According to him, “SERVICOM is not punitive or looking for a scapegoat; it is about development and trying to ensure that people understand their roles at the end of the day. That a civil servant, public servant, or political appointee should be able to account for his duty, how he worked for the day, and be consciously accountable.

“The MORE Agenda is an apostolic move that calls for urgency of service. There is a need for understanding what makes good service, because not all service is good service.

“Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori decided that if we can deliver on the MORE Agenda at every level, we must sensitise the people on the tenets of good service. And the executors of the MORE Agenda are the bureaucrats who must work with the political class.”

Additionally, he noted that SERVICOM is not a new concept, but had become moribund at some point, prompting the current administration to revamp and resuscitate it.

While speaking, he described SERVICOM as a social contract between the government and the governed, aimed at monitoring service delivery, a mission that has led to the training and visitation of over 100 MDAs, including a significant number of local government councils.
