President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while commissioning the newly constructed 10km access road connecting the Kabusa-Ketti Districts in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the FCT, has reasserted the commitment of his administration to providing critical infrastructure.
The President who was represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, described the road project as transformational.
He stressed that it would ease mobility, enhance access to schools and healthcare, and ensure that rural communities are not left behind in the nation’s development.
At the site today, Friday, he stated, that the project aligns squarely with the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration, which places people at the centre of governance. “We believe that good governance is not theory, it is action, reflected in the daily lives of the people”.
The President highlighted his government’s resolve to deliver essential infrastructure – roads, schools, hospitals, power, and digital access – not just in the city centers but also in the smaller communities that form the backbone of the nation.
“While the 10km road may appear modest to some, for the people of Kabusa, Ketti, and the surrounding communities, it is truly transformational”, the President stated, and urged beneficiaries to ensure its responsible utilization for sustainability, while also assuring them of continued government support.
“This is not the end of the road, but it is the beginning. More projects will come, investments will reach you, and attention will be given to your needs, for every Nigerian deserves development no matter where they live”, he said.
President Tinubu commended the FCT Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike and the contractors for delivering the project in time and according to specification while also praising the AMAC leadership for prioritizing this crucial intervention.
Speaking ealier, the FCT Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, expressed gratitude for the consistent support of the President to the FCT Administration.
He noted that the Kabusa-Ketti road, flagged off in December last year, was completed on schedule, and commended the contractor for his dedication and commitment.
“I commend the youths for the support they gave to the contractors. There are some communities that when you award jobs to be done, instead of them to support the company, they pose problems for the company. In this case, they supported the company to finish on time.
Providing a technical brief, the Acting Executive Secretary, FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, stated that the project, awarded in November and flagged off on December 4, 2024, provides access and connectivity to Kabusa, Sheretti, Ketti and other bounding communities in the area. The scope, he added, included a 10km asphalt single-carriage way, concrete side drains, and solar street lighting, all aimed at easing traffic, reducing travel time, and improving socio-economic lives and security within the communities.
