Amid rising insecurity plaguing many parts of the country, Delta State has continued to distinguish itself as a model of stability, maintaining its status as one of the safest states in Nigeria.
Delivering a lecture titled “Strengthening Local Governance and Strategic Communications for Effective Grassroots Intelligence and Public Safety”, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, outlined key strategies adopted by the state government to safeguard its communities.
Speaking to participants of Senior Course 47 at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Mr. Aniagwu attributed the state’s security success to a multi-pronged approach. These include the provision of critical infrastructure across rural communities, implementation of social safety nets, youth empowerment initiatives, regular stakeholder engagement and feedback, and enhanced support for security agencies, among others.
The lecture was part of a broader event themed “Harnessing Grassroots Intelligence for Enhanced Internal Security,” which held at the Prof. Chike Edozien Secretariat in Asaba. The gathering featured insightful presentations from various eminent personalities, aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s internal security architecture through effective local intelligence and governance.
