PDP Reacts As Oborevwori Defects To APC

BY PATRICK MGBODO
The Delta State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr Sunday Appah, in a telephone chat with The Pointer described the defection as a welcome development.

Appah said the defection to ruling party became inevitable following the crisis suffered by the PDP at the national level, adding that the governor’s decision was the best way forward for the state.

The party chieftain said all members of the legislature and the state executive council have defected accordingly, and would be formerly integrated into the APC on Monday, April 28 2025.

He said it would be suicidal for the state to continue with the PDP, even as he added that the slogan within the PDP is “APC: Take over”.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu accompanied by Sen James Manager, announced the defection of Governor Oborevwori, adding
“For sometimes, the social media has been awash as to what political decisions we will be taking in Delta. While that was on, our Governor and the leaders of the party (PDP) has been very busy carrying out the necessary consultations.

“It was also part of those consultations that caused a meeting to hold here today for the leaders of the PDP to advise on the necessary steps that needed to be taken.

“It is said that when the drinking of the palm win changes, the drinking pattern also changes and the leaders of the party in the cause of the consultation were unanimous in their views that the political temperature has changed.

“Thus, we needed to take a decision that would further help to cement the development in our state. In taking that decision, we came to the inevitable conclusion that moving out of the PDP is very necessary for us to collaborate with our brothers and build that stage that every Deltan will be proud of.

“This decision was taken unanimously by leaders of the party and on Monday, we will all move into the APC” Aniagwu said.
