Deltans were thrown into mourning yesterday following the death of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Export, Chief (Mrs) Shimite Love.
It was learned that Chief (Mrs) Bello died at about 3:30 a.m. on Easter Monday, a development that has triggered public concern and widespread allegations, particularly on social media.
It was alleged that Mrs Love died of poisoning.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, told The Pointer that unless autopsy reports proved otherwise, the deceased died of natural causes.
Reacting to speculations over Mrs Love’s death, the Police spokesperson said her husband was not arrested but was taken into protective custody, adding that investigations are ongoing.
Until her demise, Mrs Love was instrumental in promoting financial literacy, gender mainstreaming, and financial inclusion, particularly among grassroots women and youths in Delta State.
She has held several positions in the Delta State Government such as Executive Secretary of the State Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency, Focal Person for Delta State National Social Safety Net Programme, Executive Assistant to the immediate past Governor on Export and Coordinator of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization Centre.
She was also the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Quintessential Group, which operates in various sectors including agriculture, solid minerals and finance.
As the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Export, the late Mrs Love played a vital role in shaping and implementing policies to enhance trade and export activities within the state.
Married to Pastor David Favour Love, the late Mrs Love earned a bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan, and is an indigene of Ebu Kingdom in Oshimili North Local Government Area.
